Pyrethroid Safety

Pyrethroid Regulation

As is the case with all pesticides, the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regulates pyrethroid uses across the USA in accordance with its mission to protect human health and the environment while providing the maximum benefits of pesticides to growers and homeowners.

  • The EPA sets national standards and state regulators set state standards for all pesticides based on the best scientific information available to encourage the proper use of pesticides and to protect human health and the environment.

  • The EPA has its own extensive processes in place to continuously review existing registrations and incorporate the most current science.  In conjunction with these efforts, the manufacturers of pyrethroids have conducted numerous studies over the past three decades to improve the understanding of the potential environmental and toxicological impacts of pyrethroids

  • The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has conducted multiple reviews of pyrethroid human and environmental safety across their decades of use such that the pyrethroids are probably the most deeply researched class of insecticide. EPA mandates very strict labels that prescribe only uses that ensure safety to users and the environment.
